Well, I've got back from EpicLan after 3 great days of gaming. I never want to see another pizza, KFC, Jolt / Red Bull / Rockstar / Cola again. It was so nice to get back home to my sofa and a home cooked meal
I've been playing (amongst others) BF2, UT24K, TF2, HL2DM, CSS, Warsow, Armagedtron, Quake 3 Arena, Grid and Trackmania. The main competition for this was on Saturday and I tried my best, but only the top two from each of the three qualifying rounds made the final .... and I couldn't get higher than 4th:
BTW ... I am "Elsie" ... as in Leicester City .... "L" "C" geddit?
I gave it my best shot but players like Blind and especially Fatal (who won the final) were too quick for me.
In the games of BF2 (no bloody screenshots grrr) I came top in each round but the only two maps were 64 Gulf of Oman or Wake ... and as the Armerican side weren't organised they got mullered and ended up in farce. I asked on multiple occasions to make it a 32 IO on Karkand / Road to Jalalbad or Sharqui but was ignored .... at least this would have made it more interesting. At least I got my revenge on the Sunday morning when I beat Fatal (half my age but an awesome player) twice in Q3A death matches.
All the same, It was a top weekend and great to be able to play, laugh, joke and occasionally abuse, fellow players. Roll on EpicLan 4 in July!
Oh ... and it was made even sweeter by Leicester City beating F*rest 3-0 _________________ Spine_Taker

Don't forget that this started at 16:00 on Thursday and ran 24/7 until 16:00 Sunday. That's 3 full days of gaming time!
They had a timetable (** Clicky Link **) arranged before the event so we all knew what main servers would be up and running. They also made announcements on the PA and displayed the details on a big screen about what game servers were live. With regard to Quake 3 Arena, I started a server on my own PC and put three bots in play as I was bored. Before I knew it the rest of the slots had filled by humans and we had a great game ... I then had to restart the arena with more slots!
Have a look at the EpicLan website to see more details. Their forum has links to other LAN's and events around the country so there might be one near you that you cold visit and see if it's for you. This LAN was the first big one i've been to in years and I really enjoyed it, jsut have to see whether I can get permission to go back in July. _________________ Spine_Taker
